Congratulations to Rachelle! And also: Finding good staffers is hard enough, but keeping them that long is even more difficult. Ten years, wow! That's a testament to good management at WPCU, friends...

Inverclyde Community Justice Outcomes Improvement Plan- Staff Engagement sessions A particularly long, productive, heavy fantastic week with the first round of five staff engagement sessions for partners across #Inverclyde. Each event focused on a specific aim with a wide representation of staff, their views and experiences and potential improvement actions for the Community Justice Partnership. The Partnership wanted to run these events as we recognised the lived/living experience of staff who work in a justice setting, support individuals who are in the justice system or have an interest in justice issues locally. What did I learn this week:· There are a range of staff in Inverclyde who care passionately about the areas they work in and the people they support· Staff work in extremely complex situations or support people who live in very chaotic and complex situations· They are honest in the limitations of their work (in a large complex environment) but know where change can happen and the positive impacts it can have on the individuals they support· That new connections will be made; “Oh, I didn’t know you did that/could do that”, “how can we work closer”· That five sessions in one week is tiring…Finally, one comment from this week was from a member of staff who spoke about one specific challenge of getting people out of the justice system and that was on hope; if people don’t feel they have hope, or they don’t think hope exists then all things about community justice won’t work!Next week we more our attention towards the third sector and the role they play before the final round of staff engagement sessions the following week.

For quite some time now, our focus at Thurston EDC has revolved around a powerful concept: "placemaking." It's all about creating an area that's not just a place to live and work but a place where people want to be, thrive, and prosper. And guess what? Our investment in our community has been paying off BIG time! Over the past decade, Thurston County has witnessed an incredible transformation. Our population has surged by a staggering 49,000 people, and here's the kicker: We're growing at higher proportional levels than our regional neighbors. Take a look at the graph above. That dotted line? That's the Washington State average population percentage growth. And where do we stand? Thurston County is soaring high above it! We've been, and we continue to be, a driving force for growth in our region. This isn't just about numbers on a chart; it's about the strength of our community. It's about the vibrant neighborhoods, the bustling businesses, and the countless opportunities that make Thurston County the place to be.
